what's in my hospital bag & $75 Pink Blush Giveaway!

I can't believe I'm at the point where I'm packing my hospital bag! I'm coming up on 34 weeks and with the move it seemed appropriate to have this all set because I'll be full-term in just a few weeks! Although both boys waited until the 40 + week mark we never really know. Though I hope she stays nice and snug until her due date. When Gabriel was born I totally over packed and only used half of the stuff I took with me. With Cristian I packed more useful items but I forgot a few things that could have been very helpful, namely larger panties ::insert monkey covering eyes emoji here:: Which, I also did not photograph but we all know what those look like haha! This time around I am taking everything that I know I will likely use even though I probably missed some thing either way! In this layout, I did forget to photograph one important thing that I always make sure to bring for both the birthing floor and the 'mommy and me' floor where I'm transferred after I give birth. That's snacks/treats and a thank you card for the nurses and staff. They are always so appreciative and it's a small gesture of gratitude for all that they do.

And so excited to team-up with Pink Blush Maternity to bring you a $75 Giveaway- more of that at the end of the post!

Here are the things that I didn't pack because the hospital/birthing center provides: pads and slippers. Also, not pictured my big camera and makeup bag.  I hope this list is helpful and if you have anything that you found useful please share in the comments!

1. Nursing Tank & my going home outfit: I like to layer nursing tanks under my robe postpartum because it's so much more comfortable to nurse and walk around that way. I like this tank because it's stretchy and I feel like I have more support.

2. My Ipad: Listening to music really helps soothe me during the birthing process and postpartum. I already started my playlist and if you follow me on Snap Chat you already know how random my music tastes are haha!

3. Sleep Nursing bras: If you plan to nurse you really can never have too many nursing bras!

4. S'well water bottle (these are the same concept but at a more affordable price!): I love my water bottle haha! Seriously though it keeps things cold for 24 hours and hot for 14- I'm also not a huge fan of the Styrofoam cups they provide at my hospital and it'll be nice to fill up my own bottle.

5. Face wipes (I get mine at Costco): Right after birth I shower as soon as I can but in the mean time a fresh face wipe always helps to help me feel more comfortable and clean! It's also nice to freshen my face throughout my stay!

6. My postpartum corsette: I talked more about it here - it is truly a life saver!
[On a side note, I ordered this in my pre-pregnancy size and it's the one that's specified for "curvy" figures. Make sure to read the description to purchase the one that will be right for your figure.]

7. Baby girl's going home outfit & onesies- This one is always really hard for me to choose haha! I usually bring about two comfy pj type outfits and a cute going home hat!

8. Face wash & lotion: Cetaphil has been my go-to for years! I have pretty sensitive skin and this works really well for me!

9. Hospital Robe: It's always so nice to bring your own clothes when you have to stay at the hospital. It's bad enough that you have to deal with those thin mattresses! This one from Pink Blush Maternity is really light and soft. I also love the pretty floral pattern! I'm usually in my robe, comfy leggings and a nursing tank the entire stay.

10. Nursing-friendly pj's (these are so comfy!) - I can't recommend bringing your own set of pj's enough! Trust me when I say you don't want to wear the hospital gown. Treat yourself and buy a comfy set that you'll love to wear!

11. Burp Cloths: I always like to bring my own soft burp cloth instead of using the rough hospital towels. I'm always so OCD about our baby's soft skin!

12. Cover me Poncho/car seat cover: I love how versatile this cover is and it'll be great to use to cover our car seat once we leave the hospital!

13. A weekender bag (adore the design of this one and I always receive compliments!): In the past, I brought a small suitcase but it gets so cumbersome once you have to bend over and are already feeling sore. It's so much easier to bring a cloth weekender that's easier to shuffle around and doesn't take up as much space.

14. Bebe Au Lait swaddlers c/o: I love using our own blankets/muslin swaddlers once we are there. These have the prettiest design and I love how airy they are. I also use them as nursing covers!

15. My Crunchy Mama's lip balm and Bump lotion stick: For some reason my lips gets so dry in the hospital! I love my organic lip balm from Crunchy Mama's! And the ladies were so kind to send me a sample of their "about to pop' stick and I've been using it faithfully this pregnancy. My skin gets so itchy on my bump and this gives me so much relief that I plan to use it postpartum too.

16. My Earth Mama Angel Baby bottom balm, bottom spray and nipple butter: I talk all about their amazingness here!

17. Last but certainly not least my own curly hair products: You can read more about my current curly hair routine & faves here!

Now for the exciting part! I've teamed up with Pink Blush Maternity to bring you a $75 Giveaway! This giftcard can be used for non-maternity items as well.

  4. Like you, I always like to pack something comfy to change into. I don't like wearing the ugly hospital gowns any longer than I have to. I'm planning on getting a robe from pinkblush this time around to help me feel better right after I give birth! It just feels better to be wearing something cute!

  6. I definitely won't leave home without my slippers, comfy robe, hair tyes and comfy clothes to go home in. Makeup and fancy clothes are for the birds. Giving birth is exhausting

  7. I'm due next month as well, and I absolutely have to bring my Boppy pillow. It's nice to have for nursing, but it is especially helpful for visitors who don't feel super comfortable holding itty bitty babes. Plus, when my 2.5 year old daughter comes to visit us and meet her new sister for the first time, she can hold her with the assistance of the pillow.

  8. I never make it in the hospital without my iPod. I have to have music to get through the time in the hospital. And snacks!

  9. I'm making sure I bring some dry shampoo this time around! With my last baby I remember being so stressed about my gross post-delivery hair, but not wanting to deal with 20 minutes of blow drying and and straightening my mane, haha.

  16. I'm with you on the post partum corset for the hospital bag! I ended up having a c-section and the corset was a lifesaver! It really lessened my pain since it held everything in place when I moved around. :)

  17. Nursing gowns are a must or loose gowns, slippers, lip balm, make up, shampoo, body wash, breast pump, boppy or Brest friend pillow, your own pillow, Chargers for camera, video camera, outfits for your baby, hats for your baby, going home outfit for your baby, baby book, and I could probably list a ton more things!

  18. When we travel, I always have plenty of changes of clothes for everyone in the family. I learned my lesson when we went to a wedding a while back and my baby pooped all over me and I had no extra clothes for myself.

  19. I'm due with my third baby in Sept! I'll definitely be packing my personal toiletries, slippers, and clothes from home. Last time I had a spinal with my c-section and I could not stand wearing the hospital gown with the crazy itching I got from the medicine! My own clothes were much more comfortable. :)
